Food & Family ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, your name and profile picture.
• Content you create: recipes, meal plans, shopping list items, and household membership data.
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, and error logs — collected to improve the app.
• Device information: operating system, browser type, and app version.

2. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to understand how the app is used. When you visit this website, we display a cookie consent banner. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies at any time.

• Essential cookies: required for authentication and session management. Always active.
• Analytics cookies: used to measure traffic and improve content. Only set if you accept.

3. How we use your information

• To provide and maintain the Food & Family service.
• To sync your data across devices and household members.
• To power AI features (recipe generation, suggestions). Prompts are sent to third-party AI providers — we do not store them beyond what is needed to complete the request.
• To send transactional emails (e.g. invites, password resets). We do not send marketing emails without your consent.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure.
• Vercel — hosting and edge functions.
• AI providers (Google Gemini, OpenRouter) — for recipe generation features only.
• Stripe / Google Play — for payment processing if you subscribe to Food & Family Plus.

5. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is deleted within 30 days. Recipe content shared with your household is removed when the household is dissolved.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@foodandfamily.app.

7. Children's privacy

Food & Family is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or via an in-app notice. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
